Charleston Lines

A fun class to work on your solo Charleston!  This class will work you up from the basic charleston step to be able to join in on the charleston lines.  These are a great way to get through long and fast songs, and we'll work several into the weekend!

Lead and Follow Fundamentals - 1

Students will learn fundamental concepts to a good partnered dance.  This class is intended for anyone who wants to take their leading and following up to the next level.

Shag 2 -Camel Hops, Sliding doors, and Peekaboos, Oh my!

Tackling the mechanics of some of the more intimidating moves in the shag repertoire so you feel confident taking them out on the social floor. 

Lindy: Controlling Space-Time

Teacher: Michelle Kostuk and Samara Askew

Time: Saturday, 1:00 - 2:00pm

In this fundamental Lindy Hop class, we will explore how to hone your timing skills. When do you speed up? How do you slow things down? Am I bringing my partner along for the ride or am I floating in space by myself? We will tap into that timey-wimy, wibbly wobbly feeling!

Switch 101

Students will use concepts from the fundamentals of leading and following classes to start switch dancing!  Students in this class should either take the fundamentals class beforehand, or know the basics of leading and following. 

Balboa: Don't be a Drag...

Don't be a Drag...

Just kidding, totally drag it out. This class will explore drags, hesitations, and other fun rhythms  in pure Bal.


Switch 201

Teacher: Sarah

Students will continue putting into practice the switch concepts from earlier in the day.  If you are jumping into this class, you should have some background in switch dancing.

Balboa: Modern Classics

Teacher: Howard and Gayl

The sweet feeling of compression and release are the hallmarks of Balboa. Join us for the surprise and delight of using each other's connections to play with rhythm and movement.

Balswitch

Teacher: Michelle Kostuk and Samara Askew

Your Balboa artistic expression will know no bounds in this class where students will not only learn how to dance as a lead and a follow, but how to switch it up mid dance! The teachers will deliver the how-to technique alongside a fun move to try out on the social floor. Let’s push some beaches and kick some lollies! 

Boogaloo: the Funky Cousin of Chachacha

Teacher: Jen and Isamu

Students will learn basic Boogaloo techniques and moves. This class is designed for anyone new to West African dancing to get a feel for the movements.  

Creating Switch Dances

Teachers: Ryn and Brian

Time: Sunday, 11:00-12:00 pm

Students will learn to take their switch dancing to the next level.  This class assumes students be able to walk through a lead and follow swing out (ask us if there are concerns about level).  We will go over how to create your own switch moves, ideas for how to make your switching more musical, and how to listen and react to your partner in both roles.

Hip Hop

Students will learn basic heels techniques and moves. This class is designed for anyone new to heels dancing.  Heels optional, but recommended!

Elevating your Lindyhop by layering on rhythms and shapes over standard moves

Tap Dance

Students will learn basic tap dancing techniques and moves.  This class is intended for people who are completely new to tap dancing, or who want a refresher in the basics.  

Blues

Students will learn basic blues dancing techniques and moves.  This class will build on lindy hop fundamentals to get you dancing blues!

West Coast Swing
